The 10-Day Classic Rwanda Safari is a comprehensive exploration of Rwanda’s most iconic landscapes, wildlife destinations, and cultural heritage. This immersive journey takes you across the country’s diverse ecosystems—from ancient rainforests and savannah plains to volcanic mountains and serene lakes—offering a perfect blend of adventure, wildlife encounters, and meaningful cultural experiences.

Your safari begins in Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital city, where you’ll visit the powerful Kigali Genocide Memorial. This moving experience provides insight into Rwanda’s history and remarkable journey of resilience and unity. From here, you travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa’s oldest and most biodiverse rainforests.

In Nyungwe, you will embark on an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience, tracking these energetic primates through dense forest trails. The park is also home to over 12 primate species and hundreds of bird species, making it a paradise for nature lovers. A walk along the famous canopy walkway offers breathtaking views over the forest canopy, adding a unique perspective to your adventure.

Next, the journey continues to the tranquil shores of Lake Kivu, where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of one of Africa’s Great Lakes. Whether it’s a peaceful boat ride, lakeside relaxation, or interaction with local fishing communities, Lake Kivu provides a refreshing break in your safari.

From there, you head east to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park. Here, you will enjoy classic African game drives, searching for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and numerous antelope species. Akagera offers a completely different landscape from Nyungwe, showcasing open plains, lakes, and wetlands that support diverse wildlife.

The highlight of the safari awaits in Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, where you hike through bamboo forests and volcanic terrain before spending an unforgettable hour observing a gorilla family. You will also visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you can engage with local traditions, music, dance, and community life.

Throughout the safari, you’ll stay in comfortable mid-range lodges that blend modern amenities with natural surroundings. Transportation is provided in a 4×4 safari vehicle, ensuring comfort and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.

This safari is perfect for travelers who want to experience everything Rwanda has to offer—wildlife, primates, landscapes, and culture—in one well-balanced itinerary.
